Apart from helping the customers in buying and selling their properties and performing other related work, a broker assistant also performs administrative tasks such as assisting the customers with orders, computing and recording the transactions, and executing documentation work. The duties of a broker assistant include writing orders for stock sales and purchases, verifying and following stock transactions, accepting and delivering securities, dealing with equity shares, performing the distribution of dividends to customers and share holders, etc.

A broker assistant has to keep all the records of the daily transactions and holdings. He or she has to correspond with the customers, discuss the fluctuations in the market, and resolve problems in the transactions and accounts. A broker assistant has to draw a time table regarding the transfer and delivery of security certificates among the companies, departments, and customers.

A broker assistant has to summarize the dealings and transactions, calculate total holdings, dividends, interest, transfer taxes, and brokerage commissions, and see that the payments are received by the eligible people in the appropriate time. Before any transaction takes place, the broker assistant has to verify the genuineness of the records and know whether or not the transactions are done according to government rules and regulations.

  • Keeping the records of individual earnings of the customers and taking charge of making payment of dividends, brokerage commissions, and other payments due to the customers
  • Performing correspondence with the customers and discussing with the co-workers to answer clarifications from many angles, researching on market fluctuations, and evolving strategies to deal with accounts problems
  • Discussing with insurance companies for the issue of proper insurance certificates
  • Taking charge of answering phone calls, dispatching transport facilities, opening and sorting the mails, and sending them to the relevant sections

Prior to the above employment, I had worked as a broker's assistant in Mayfair Finance Corporation in Augusta, GA from August, 2008 to August, 2012 and performed the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Performing the task of opening new accounts and helping the customers in this regard
  • Taking charge of the reconciliation of accounts
  • Answering the clients' questions over the phone regarding market trends and account information
  • Executing a thorough research about the market trend, preparing a report on this information, and forecasting the future market
  • Developing a close touch with the business people in order to study the market trend regularly
