Job Description:

Job description of library director includes following tasks:

  • Increasing the fund for the betterment of library.
  • Raising the library members and developing the superiority of stock.
  • Introducing innovative systems for attracting people to read journals and books.

  • Consults, directs, and confers among the library board, professionals, other libraries, citizens, officials, and community groups.

  • Recruits, selects and educates fresh staff.
  • Coordinates the sustained guidance and expansion of personnel members.
  • Develops hires and manages library staff, expands staff strategies, and creates suggestions for staffing levels.
  • Implements every major policy to fulfill the mission and attain the goals of the library.
  • Estimates the performance of subordinate section heads and manages the assessment of other staff.
  • Organizes correspondence and speeches to the customers.
  • Sustaining the client relations and rapport among the government aid agencies.
  • Locates resources, responds queries, requests resources through refers customers to outside collections and resources when suitable in order to offer information services to customers.

  • Studies and creates plans to expand the services of the library to meet more successfully future and present community requirements, counting study of society and their relation to the library and area trends.
  • Directs and develops events, strategies and public information, and reference service techniques utilized.
  • Organizes or coordinates training of every proposals, contracts, major reports, or grant connected to the library.
Skills:
  • Outstanding public relations skills among the library customers, the media and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Information of accounting and budgeting practices.
  • Knowledge of suitable municipal and library law including open meeting laws.
  • Experience in budget administration, staff management and operational in a non profit, society based surroundings.
  • Capability to expand and keep effective operational rapport among the board and employees.
  • Information of modern library trends during specialized workshops and reading.
