Recreational Therapist Resume Cover Letter

A Recreational Therapist cover letter is written by a physical therapist who specializes in physical therapy. He uses various activities like games, painting, walking, etc. to regulate blood flow in his limbs and other body parts. This helps in providing mobility to the body and helps the physically disabled, in many cases, to move freely once again. These activities also help in maintaining a mental and emotional balance in the patients.

A recreational therapist helps the patients in recovering from their mental trauma caused due to the illness or disability. He assists them in overcoming depression and their disability. Over a due course of time, this provides them with more independence and confidence.

They may work at rehabilitation centers, hospitals or have their own private practice setup. Their services often correspond with those of psychologists, social workers and physical therapists. Their work covers observing a patient's medical condition for several months and making notes of the improvements in him. It is a time-taking task. A cover letter sample for the same has been given here.

Subject- Application for the post of Recreational Therapist

Dear Dr. Eberts,

I recently saw your advertisement for an available job post of a Recreational Therapist at your hospital. This ad was posted on www.americanhealthcom dated 27th Nov, '13. I am an experienced Recreational Therapist and interested in taking up this opportunity.

I have a total of 14 years' experience in Recreational Therapy and currently, I am working with U.D.F. Hospital in their physical therapy facility located in Bristol. My work there includes working with accident victims and treating them for their motor disabilities. I have a rich experience of 6 years at U.D.F. working with patients who find it hard to come to terms with their emotional and physical selves. Many a times such patients go into a state of depression and lose the will power to try to recuperate. I have studied such patients in detail in my last year's research paper that explored various factors like the patient's physical state, their psychology, the affected blood pressures and the resultant reactions and tendencies. It is because of my in-depth study and years of experience in dealing with such situations that I have become an expert at my profession.

Towards my education background, I have completed my Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. I have a 6 months' internship in the field to my credit where I trained as an associate therapist with senior doctors at the Holy Mary Physical Therapeutic Centre. This has got me the status of a certified therapeutic recreation specialist from the NCTRC (National Therapeutic Recreation Certification).

My long experience with varied patients and understanding of their psychological needs make me a confident applicant. Therefore, I am sending to you my detailed resume along with my certifications and excerpts from my research paper.

I would be looking forward to hear from you.

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

Subject- Application for the post of Trainee Recreational Therapist

Dear Dr. Eberts,

I recently came to know about a job opening for an Assistant Recreational Therapist at your hospital. I have just completed my Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Boston. I have recently received my certification from NCTRC (National Therapeutic Recreation Certification). In addition to this, I have successfully completed my 6 months' medical internship from Holy Mary Physical Therapeutic Centre where I acted as an Assistant Recreational Therapist. During this time, I learned about various new methods and techniques developed to help the patients.I have remained a very keen observer of people since childhood. My grandfather got paralysis at the age of 73 due to which his left hand became defunct. Observing him and his physical trainer, I learned a lot. This personal incident influenced me to take up Recreational Therapy as a profession and so I pursued it.

I am sending across my resume along with this cover letter. Because I have a personal experience of dealing with such a condition and have a good educational background in this field, I feel confident of getting through the interview, if given a chance.

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

(Signature)
John Weinstein
