WORK ENVIRONMENT:-

Nannies are responsible for working in the private homes caring for their employer's kids. They are liable for all the features of childcare, however, their duties and responsibilities will differ as per the number and children ages that are in their care.

Being a nanny, you will frequently take care of the babies and young children, and your tasks will include:

  • feeding
  • bathing
  • dressing
  • changing nappies

When you are working with the older children, you will be involved in teaching basic social, writing and reading skills. You will also looking after the children on outing and entertain them through playing.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:-

You might begin your work as a nanny with no qualification. However, most of the employers and employment agencies will give preference if you are having the childcare qualification.

From 2010 September the above qualifications will be replaced by the new Children and Young People's Workforce Diploma and Certificate (Level 2 and 3).

The entry requirements of the course will differ, so you have to check with the individual colleges for more information.

You can raise your chances of obtaining the remunerated work as a nanny if you are having the Pediatric First Aid or Certification in First Aid for Those Caring for Children.

TRAINING DETAILS:-

Once you are being employed as a nanny you can work for NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development awarded by CACHE or BTEC or C and G, the Open University. Check with the individual colleges for more entry information.

These qualifications will be replaced by the new Diploma and Certificate Children and Young People's Workforce from September 2010 (Level 2 and 3).
