A library is a place wherein huge number of books, videos, etc., are stored, and registered users can use the same as and when required. It is place that provides all sorts of reference material and reading material for students, researchers, book lovers, etc. Maintaining these books and videos is a tedious task because there are different categories and locating the right book might get difficult. These responsibilities come under the purview of a Library Technician, also known as Media Aide, or Library Technical Assistant. The basic job role of this person is to assist the Librarian in operating computer systems, maintaining inventory systems, maintaining the video library, and any other technical assistance required in the library. Usually, the technician works under the supervision of a Librarian, but with the advancements of technology and more and more use of the same in operating a library, these technicians function independently and take the place of a librarian.
