With a total work experience of 4.5 years, am currently working as a Senior Marine Engineer with Gold Shipping Industry. Prior to this, I have worked as Jr. Marine Engineer with Star Fisheries and was responsible for the maintenance of ships used for commercial fishing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Chief Officer
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of the ships
  • Responsible for checking the functioning of the ship before it leaves the port
  • Responsible for checking the fuel and lubrication of all the moving parts
  • Daily maintenance check and sending a report to the Captain of the ship
  • Communicating with the Captain about any mechanical issue and repair works needed before leaving the port
  • Accompany the Captain on the ship so as to be available for tackling any in-journey breakdown of the vessel
  • Keep a check of lubricants, spare parts, and tool box on the vessel
  • Make a list of inventories needed for assuring uninterrupted movement of the vessels and make sure that the inventories are purchased by the purchase department
  • Assist the Purchase Head in buying the right kind of equipment and material for the vessel

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Follow the instructions of the Sr. Engineer
  • Check the mechanical issues of the vessel and repair the same
  • Regular lubrication of all moving parts of the vessel
  • Completing all the lubrication and maintenance work before the vessel leaves the port for shipping
  • Get a 'Go Ahead' approval from the Sr. Engineer and pass the same to the Captain
  • Making daily maintenance reports and updating the same in the records
  • Placing the equipment back in the tool box, and informing the seniors about the lubricants or spares used
  • Cleaning the grease or lubrication spilled on the vessel floor to avoid any mishaps

Extra Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Manager in making reports and locating problems of the vessel that need to be fixed
  • Loading the required lubrication inventory and spares on the ship before the ship leaves the port
  • Performing any other functions as instructed by the seniors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering - 2006

  • Certificate course in Sea Survival and Fire Fighting - 2005 (for on dock hassle free services)
