The delivery drivers have to take care of several factors while driving on the road. They have to obey the traffic rules and regulations and also drive their vehicles under the speed limit. These drivers keep a record of their driving activities such as gas receipts, mileage, working hours, etc. They also clean the interiors and exteriors of their vehicles and check the brakes, oil, tires, etc. Apart from driving, they are also involved in the loading and uploading of goods. They pick up goods from the distributor or designated place and transport them to the customer's destination. They carry goods to the customers, receive payments, and get the receipts signed from them.

This job is not as easy as it seems on paper. It requires a lot of physical work and if you are interested, you should be physically capable to hold the responsibilities of this job profile. A delivery driver has to travel short as well as long distances. The drivers traveling short distance end their shifts by the end of the day; however, those traveling long distances have to remain away from their homes for a long time. The US Department of Transportation says that a delivery driver should not drive more than 11 hours a day and this rule is needed to be followed strictly by the professionals working at this position.

As far as the qualifications are concerned, a high school diploma with a valid CDL (commercial driving license) is sufficient to apply for this job position. If you possess the required requisites then you can prepare a good resume and apply for the job. Some experience in this field would be an added advantage in your selection.
