Although both of them gather financial information, and analyze it, they differ on the basis of the type of investment information they provide. A Financial Analyst may work with insurance companies, investment banks, the business media, securities firms, pension and mutual funds, and other businesses. They help these institutions to make investment decisions.

If you are interested for this job position, you need to have a bachelors degree in the related field. You can have a bachelor's degree in accounts, commerce, finance, or business management. A masters degree would be preferred more for this job profile. A Financial Analyst needs to have sound knowledge of the financial sector, in order to efficiently hold the responsibilities of this job profile.
