Job Description:

A sky cap is a person who provides a high level of customer service. He has to assist the passengers in checking in their luggage. He helps the passengers to carry their baggages and has the responsibility of answering the questions or queries of the passengers about departure, arrival, and the terminal facilities. Besides, he has to assist the passengers in boarding buses, taxis, etc., and using other transportation facilities at the terminal entrance or passenger drop off.

Sky caps work inside the terminal or at the passenger drop off areas. They have to wear the uniform as specified by the airport authorities. Sky caps lift and carry heavy luggage and use baggage hand carts for this purpose inside the terminal. People with a helping tendency are much required for sky cap jobs, as most of the income that the professionals receive are mainly through 'tips' or the money left by the passengers in appreciation or gratitude.

A high school diploma or GED is enough to be appointed as a sky cap. The candidates can be married or unmarried and widowed or divorced at the time of job application. Besides, candidates with children can also apply for the job position. The minimum age requirement is 18-21 years and the candidates have to be physically strong enough to carry heavy luggage and other objects.

Job Objective:

I am seeking for the job position of a sky cap in a reputed airliner where my tasks will be recognized with the aim of providing mutual benefit and high degree service to the company and the passengers.

Skills Possessed:

  • Dedicated towards the service and possesses the ability to never hesitate to work in any environment

Work Profile:

Presently working as a sky cap in an airport in New Jersey since June, 2012. The following are my job responsibilities in this profile:

  • Attending to a variety of passengers and delivering personalized services to them when required
  • Welcoming and assisting the passengers to reach the lounge area or waiting rooms
  • Responsible for moving the elderly and incapacitated passengers between the lounge and boarding area using wheelchairs
  • Assisting the elderly people and children traveling alone in getting their baggages and other personal belongings
  • Being familiar with the airport layout and location of the terminals, car rental areas, elevators and escalators, and restrooms. This enables to efficiently guide the passengers to the locations where they want to move to

Prior to the above appointment, I had worked as a heavy truck driver in a motor enterprise in Texas from January, 2010 to April, 2012. The following were my duties as a truck driver:

  • Driving a truck with a capacity of over 30 tonnes and performing the task of transporting goods between the designated destinations
  • Being fully aware of the traffic rules and commercial driving regulations and being well versed with the areas of operation
  • Performing the work of maintaining the log book and making necessary entries as per the specifications of the state government
  • Seeing to it that the duties are never gone unaccomplished and ensuring that the goods are delivered in a proper condition to the customers
  • Being aware of motor mechanism and executing the task of checking tires, brakes, gas, oil, water level, and other factors that are necessary for ensuring safe driving

Education:

Completed High School Diploma from New Jersey School, NJ in 2010.
Possesses a heavy vehicle driving license.
