Receptionist (General) ResumeWhenever we visit an organization, we find someone sitting behind the front desk. The professional is called the receptionist. She is the very first person whom we meet and tell the purpose of visiting the organization. She then, very politely, asks you about your queries and solves them either by calling the concerned person you want to meet or by solving some other issues. It is a position required in almost all the companies. The responsibilities of a receptionist (general) increases if the organization is large. In such conditions, she has to handle a number of tasks. Some of the job duties and responsibilities of a general receptionist are as follows: Greet and Attend the Visitors: The receptionists greet and attend the visitors. Most often, a reception has a sitting area where the visitors can wait for the person they want to see. It is possible that the people who arrive at the reception have an appointment fixed, otherwise, there are some people who come without an appointment. Both such types of people are attended by the receptionist. It is also possible that a receptionist might have advanced knowledge of the people who are about to visit the office because his/her fellow receptionists would have passed the information. Answering the Telephone Calls: Whenever you call up an organization, your call first passes through the receptionist. First, the receptionist attends the call and then transfers it to the concerned person. Different persons such as co-workers, clients, stakeholders, or general public could call up an organization. Sometimes, it happens that someone calls up to get information about the company and the receptionist should be trained enough to handle such queries to reveal the details only up to a certain extent, as allowed. Dealing and Solving the Queries: There are several queries that a receptionist has to solve. He/she might attend several calls regarding several queries. These queries could be either put forth over the phone or in person. So, a person working in this position should be fully aware of the policies of the company. The receptionist should also be aware of the sister companies, local agencies, hospitals, housing and transport services, etc. If you feel that you are capable of holding these job responsibilities then you can apply for this job profile. You just need to prepare a receptionist resume and then apply for this position. Pamela J.
