Developed an understanding of the materials science aspects of polysaccharide (cellulose, hemicellulose, chitin) regeneration in the form of hydrogen beads. This research has been focusing on the examination of relationships between the nature of the polysaccharide (chemistry, molecular weight, viscosity, etc.) and important hydrogen parameters, such as gel structure, morphology, bead pore size, flow characteristics, mechanical strength, and reactivity.

Assisted professor on chemical modification of lignin with propylene oxide for the synthesis of urethanes and thermoplastic elastomers.
Developed methods for the synthesis of telechelic oligomers from lignin with controlled number and length of arms.
Performed the synthesis and full characterization (chemical, thermal, mechanical and morphological) of multiphase block copolymers containing lignin and either polycaprolactone, cellulose propionate or polystyrene, as the hard segments.
Produced blends of thermoplastic formulations of multiphase block copolymers containing lignin as compatibilizers in polymer blends with commercial polymers such as PVC, polystyrene, and cellulose propionate.
