There are many different computer programming languages used to develop computer programs such as C, C++, Java, COBOL, etc. A computer programmer masters in one or more languages and makes use of the same to develop programs that ultimately work as instruction codes that leads to the development of a software or application as per the requirement of the clients.

COBOL stands for Common Business-Oriented Language, evolved in the 1950's and is used for developing various business applications. Previously, when there were not many languages, and COBOL was one of the main languages, a COBOL Programmer was in great demand. However, nowadays, employers look for candidates, who possess knowledge of different programming languages and not just excel in a single language. This is because they look for candidates, who possess multiple skills and can work on different projects. Not all organizations make use of COBOL. Different organizations use different applications and programming languages, and thus a programmer is expected to master in more than one language.

Job role:

Being a COBOL Programmer, an individual is expected to work in coordination with the system or software engineer, and make use of the flow charts provided by them giving details on the type of program or specifications and requirements of the program that needs to be developed.

Career Objective:

With a total experience of 6 years in programming, am looking for senior position, wherein I get to handle a team of programmers and use my expertise and leadership skills to help perform my duties and actions as effectively as possible.

Career Summary:

Working as a COBOL Programmer for past six years, have gained expertise in programming and development of applications using COBOL. Am also responsible for training the junior programmers. I possess expertise in C, C++, and Java programming and have completed a couple of projects using the same successfully. I also possess excellent team coordination and handling skills, and thus have monitored certain projects wherein junior programmers were involved in development.
