Orthodontist Resume

Who is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontist resume is written by a dentist who is an expert in dental reconstruction- tooth irregularity. They concern themselves with the detailed study of dental structure and ways of manipulating it to get the desired results. One more area of specialty exists for orthodontists, that is, facial reconstruction. They work on reconstructing the jaw line, teeth alignment and other aspects in order to give the patient a new facial look in terms of physical sense. This is referred to as dentofacial orthopaedics. This kind of a treatment is desired by the patients in order to improve their facial appearance and thus boosting up their confidence in a social structure and its surroundings.

The various steps that need to be followed by an orthodontist while assessing the patient and the problem are as follows:

  • Understanding the exact problem of the patient due to which he has come for treatment to him.
  • After understanding the problem, going into depth to find out what exactly has caused such a problem in first place.
  • Coming up with a suitable treatment plan for the patient and letting him know the advantages and also the flip side, if any, which he may have to face as a result of the treatment. IN other words, it involves making sure that the patient completely understands what he has opted for.

Educational Requirements

In terms of educational requirements, the applicant must have completed DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery), DMD or BDS. Then he moves onto pursuing higher degree in the subject, by becoming the resident in Advanced Education in Orthodontics. The course may be named in varying manner depending upon the university. It is usually a 2-3 years course a the end of which the applicant needs to pass a written examination of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).

Following points need to be kept in mind while writing a resume.

  • Use short sentences with bullet points. This will help in keeping a check on the length of your resume and will also help you in keeping the information to the point. This is necessary as the recruiter doesn't has much time to go through each and every word in the resume. Only the important info will attract his attention.
  • Give headings to separate sections - Dividing the resume into separate sections will be a good idea as it will provide clarity to the flow of the entire resume. It will also help the recruiter in better maneuvering through all the information and finding the relevant/ required details as soon as possible by identifying it by the section headings.
  • Maintain the font and color - It is not such a good idea to change colors and fonts within the same draft. Keep it uniform and if there arises the need to highlight some important information, just mark the words in bold.
  • Make it error-free by proofreading the entire draft at least two times. It will, otherwise give a bad impression to the recruiter to find even a single mistake in such an important piece of official document, thus affecting your chances of getting the job in negative manner.
  • Follow a chronologically reverse order while accounting for your work experience, educational qualifications and achievements, that is, start with the recent ones and go back to the older ones. It is the latest work of yours that the recruiter is more interested in.
