Bank Teller Resume

Bank tellers are those people who are associated with the daily financial transactions of a bank. A large part of a bank's strength consists of these tellers. The handling of the daily routine transactions that take place in a bank comes under the responsibilities of a bank teller. The bank tellers form the base among all the employees working in a bank; however, the emerging technologies and new computer software are declining the career graph of these professionals.

There are several job responsibilities that are associated with the job profile of a bank teller, which include selling various financial instruments, charging credit cards, receiving payments for customer's utilities, selling traveler's checks, and processing deposit certificates. Apart from these, there are some tellers who handle foreign currencies and business accounts.

Have you ever noticed that when you go to cash a check in a bank, there is always a proficient bank professional who attends and helps you? The person to whom you give the check to cash or deposit is the teller. He/she takes your check and verifies before cashing it. The teller verifies the name of the bank, recipient's identity, and legality of the document before cashing the check. He/she also checks whether sufficient funds are available in that particular account. When these procedures are done and he/she finds everything up to the mark, the professional counts the cash carefully and hands it over to you. Similarly, when you deposit a check, the teller evaluates it carefully and deposits the amount written on the check in the mentioned account.

Now, with the advancement in technology, the old manual ways of entering the data has been modified and the tellers use computer systems for this purpose. These people are trained on several financial services that are being sold by the banks. As they deal in these financial products and services, they must have sufficient knowledge about the products and services.

You can become a teller if you have a high school diploma or college degree. You can enter the banking field with your college degree and it would be beneficial if you have your degree in finance, accounts, or commerce. The skills required for this job profile are computer literacy, good communication skills, and knowledge of spreadsheet software. Apart from these skills and qualifications, you also need to prepare a good bank teller resume while applying for this post.
