Surgical Technologist Cover Letter

The origin of this job can be traced back to World War I, where the doctors used medics to help them with their work. These medics today, are known as surgical technologists, though the term 'medic' is still very much in use. They have key responsibility to assist the team of surgeons during an operation. Their work includes getting operation theater ready, arranging the necessary equipments and medicine before hand, helping with the proceedings of the operation and providing the doctors with whatever they need during the operation. One of the most important traits of a surgical technologist is to understand and predict a surgeon's next requirement. They basically, work under a senior supervisor sterilizing needles, checking the equipment and checking the operation charts.

A surgical technologist must be trained in handling various situations like delivery, accident patients and other critical cases. They should also be knowledgeable about machines. They can work in many offices: dentist, orthopedic, cardiology, physician, etc. Their names also vary from place to place: circulating surgical technologist, scrub surgical technologist, etc. They can be working with hospitals as well as with private clinics.

I have a solid experience of 9 years in this field of allied medicine. During this duration, I have worked at 2 separate hospitals. My last job was at Pennsylvania Medical Centre where I assisted in various kinds of operations with the Cardiology team. I have initially done a two years' course in Allied Medical Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh.
