WORK ENVIRONMENT:-

A watch and clock repairer or a horologist will repair, service and restore clocks and watches.

You will basically concentrate on either clocks or watches as each contains different dexterity and methods. Your work will differ as per your specialization but will normally include:

  • examining and dismantling watches and clocks to recognized errors
  • clean-up and lubricating parts
  • substituting batteries
  • removing damaged parts and putting them back from stock or with components you have completed

  • fixing new watch belts
  • ensuring the correctness of time keeping
  • fitting new dials

You can work in the jewelry shop or other selling channel, where you might serve up client and carry out repairs.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:-

You can achieve the skills in all aspects of watch and clock repair by finishing qualifications which includes:

  • EAL Certificate in the Repair, Restoration and Conservation of Clocks and Watches (Level 3)
  • EAL Intermediate Certification in Clock and Watch Servicing
  • Intermediate and Final Certification in Clock and Watch Servicing, British Horological Institute (BHI)

You can start by remaining present at part-time courses of watch and clock repairing at confined college or fully developed education institute and obtain experience in horology as a diversion before starting your work.

TRAINING DETAILS:-

If you have started working as a watch and clock repairer with no qualification you can take a British Horological Institute i.e. BHI qualification (part-time) or by distance learning.

WORKING CONDITIONS:-
