WORK ENVIRONMENT:-

Motor vehicle fitter are responsible for repairing and replacing worn or damaged tyres, wear out, batteries and parts. These fitters are also known as fast-fit technician as they work in the fast fit centers or workshop along with motor vehicle technician, fixing vehicles while the client waits.

You duties will involve:

  • test the batteries and other parts of engine to discover the faults
  • replacing and repairing defective parts
  • check the tyres and exhausts for faults
  • re-aligning and balancing wheels
  • giving advice to the customers relating to simple maintenance

TRAINING DETAILS:-

You will be given training on the job, by working along with the qualified motor vehicle fitter.

You will be persuaded to work in the direction of NVQ in Vehicle Fitting Operations (Level 1 to 3). This qualification has 2 alternatives:

  • General Vehicle Fitting (comprises exhausts, gearboxes, brakes and batteries)
  • Specialist Tyre Fitting (comprises cars, lorries, plant and machinery tyres)
If you are working on the coaches or buses, you can take Level 2 and 3 National Vocational Qualifications in Transport Engineering Maintenance. This cover up with the electrical and mechanical work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:-

You will possibly have to work in shift systems for 5 to 6 days in a week. Most of the fitting centers are opened for longer hours which also includes evenings and weekends.

DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES:-
