Writing A Government Job Resume

Considering the highly competitive job market scenario in today’s world, irrespective of the fact that whether one is trying to get in to a government job or whether someone is channelizing the efforts towards an opening in the private sector, there is no point denying the importance of planning every move in the process. One cannot possibly hope for the good old days when all one needed to do was to make sure that he or she had an impressive academic record.

Nowadays, getting a job is quite a process involving a number of significant steps and nearly every organization has got a separate HR department to look after these matters. The candidates are supposed to apply for the job by submitting a formal job application letter along with their resume which after being scrutinized by the relevant authorities should earn an interview call for the respective candidate.

Thus one can easily figure out the significant role a resume is supposed to play in the whole process.

While most people tend to confuse a resume with that of an idea of a bio data which is nothing but a record of the individual’s academic and professional career information, one must take in to account the fact that a resume in both its preparation and application goes much beyond the traditional notion of a bio data. A resume is essentially a document which should be able to act like an advertisement for the candidate, highlighting his positive traits and hiding his weak points in front of his prospective employer.

The most basic function of a resume is to interest the HR personnel to the extent that he is compelled to meet the candidate in person and thus fetch an interview call.

Although there is no such hard and fast rules as to how to write government resume, there are certainly what can be considered as some very basic guidelines in order to help the fresher in going about with the process. One of the most basic things regarding a government resume is that one must have an extremely clear and well defined idea about the functions of the post he or she is applying to.

Thus according to it, he or she must design the resume so that it only contains the relevant and pertinent data, statistics and information and most importantly must contain a section titled as job or career objective which should be penned down in a manner that matches with the vacancy as well as the strengths and weaknesses mentioned in the document.

While making a government resume, one must also make it a point to make it short, precise and yet conveying all the relevant and necessary information. Considering the cut throat competition in the job market, any vacancy is expected to get thousands of response meaning an equal number of resume. Thus making one’s own too long only makes it more vulnerable to being thrown away and ending up at the trash bin.
