Finance, over the years, has emerged as the most significant among all the other private sector professions as far as the most lucrative job offers are concerned. Thus it almost goes without saying that it automatically becomes the zone of most fierce competition regarding the recruitment procedure.
Whether it is a post of an analyst, an investment consultant or any executive post for that matter, in today’s highly competitive job market scenario, it is safe to comment that finance attracts job hopefuls like no other.
However, at the same time one must take heed of the fact that the entire aspect of recruiting a candidate to an organization today involves a number of steps and is not a simple one as experienced by our previous generations. Moreover, keeping in mind the above discussed, one can also quite easily recognize the extent of competition that a candidate has to face while opting for a job in the financial sector be it a bank or an insurance agency, etc.
Hence it is very important to plan out every move and step involved in the recruitment process in order to secure one’s position.
When it comes to the question of recruiting fresh candidates in a financial organization or anywhere for that matter, the resume plays an extremely significant role. A resume is basically a document which besides being a mere record of one’s academic and professional career and experience, functions like a well crafted advertisement of the candidate in question.
A resume as opposed to the traditional idea of a bio data should be able to highlight his strengths and hide the weaknesses and thus sell his skills and qualities to the prospective employees. In fact, writing one’s resume can be quite a creative exercise as there is no fixed format and always a room for improvising on the traditional ideas.
However, despite the fact that there is no such thing as a defined format, one can always refer to certain time tested ideas and guidelines to solve the problem of how to write financial resume. It is very important to realize at the very beginning that the function of a resume is to help the candidate get an interview call; nothing more or nothing less. Thus while going about designing one’s resume, the individual must take in to account the fact that the resume must be interesting, precise and short enough so that the relevant HR personnel can go through the whole thing and at the end of it must feel compelled to give a call to the individual.
Although it is applicable everywhere, in case of finance it becomes almost like a gospel to stick to the idea of summarizing pertinent facts such as experiences, major qualifications, etc. in the top half of the page so as to make the entire task easier for the man in question. Stating a clear cut career objective which matches with the job criteria and developing the rest of the resume accordingly is also of extreme importance.
