How to Write Marketing Resume

In the world of highly competitive marketplace, marketing is an art that is associated with every product, company or organization. Marketing is rather the key for strategic planning, pricing, placement or distribution and promotion of the product. The soul coerce of marketing is not only the increment in sales. It is rather the method through which a product or company or an individual sustains, flourishes and excels. Marketing works on very basic level of communication, promotion, targeting and placement. It is rather a scientific method, which tends to hold and grow customers at various sectors of life as superior customer value.

A marketing resume must covey the marketing roles within the candidate, it should make sure of the basic qualities and principles of the candidate. The career objective and a few essential qualities like- leadership, actuality, firm and positive attitude should be put forward in the resume so as to make greater scope for the candidate to foresee a prospect in his/her career.

The marketing resumes must contain personal details like all other resumes. The factor that decides the parameter of a strong marketing resume is the work and professional experience section, sale experience and prior accomplishments and attributes. In work and professional experience category a candidate can choose to write about all trainings, job related postings, experience, degrees and diplomas achieved. Any campaign or operation undertaken by the candidate can be depicted and one should always showcase the positive attitude towards the proper usage of keywords, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. One should be restricted using the nouns or pronouns in the job experience, educational background and in career objective categories.

The candidate should write all necessary professional details in reverse chronological order, with the latest come first. The freshers may choose to write the resume in functional style, essaying the necessary details, since they do not have any prior work experience, like other professionals. The educational background comes next, and the ditto reverse chronological order is maintained hereto. The marketing resume should contain area of interest. This segment can be written in a scientific and methodical way so that the hiring manager simply does not overlook. The skills and literacy in computer can be put along with the depiction of knowledge of some specific computer languages, application tools, and software like- DOS, Windows 98/ME/XP/Vista, Linux, Macintosh, MS Office, etc.

The marketing resume must say about verbal and communication skills of the candidate. The resume must showcase the language proficiencies of the candidate. Since language is the pivotal tool of communication. The resume should highlight the advertising, promotional, sales knowledge and/or experience of the job applicant. The marketing resume should be written with little creativity and insight so as attract the employer. Thus a marketing resume can only stand out of the crowd when it is properly planned, organized, and well executed, which can just grab 30 seconds of the hiring manager’s attention.

This way of personal marketing, i.e. resumes, can facilitate a candidate getting a call for an interview.

    Thanks for this. I would say the secret of any resume is to demonstrate competence -include enough information to show the real value of work done. But at the same time keep it short - in today’s world a recruiter is unlikely to read beyond tow pages of A4
